The Heart of Chatham was developed in response to a call for works that celebrated the 400th anniversary of Chatham Dockyard.

While researching the dockyard I read how the dockyard had been the heart of Chatham so I wondered whether the closure of the dockyard saw Chatham's heart lost forever or whether it had moved to be somewhere else in the community.

My aim was to engage the local community in the search for Chatham's heart so I hid a number of plastic hearts that contained notes inviting its finder to join in an online discussion on it's whereabouts.
